Study Shows Time-Saving Advantage of ArthroFree Wireless Arthroscopic Camera

A new University Hospitals Health System (UH) study compared the time taken to set up and take down a traditional wired arthroscopic camera system in the OR compared to Lazurite’s new ArthroFree wireless camera system.
 
The study found the wireless system is 45% faster to assemble and 23% faster to disassemble compared to the wired system. It was conducted at UH under simulated OR conditions by OR nurses and scrub technicians with varying degrees of arthroscopic equipment experience.
 
The study, conducted by by James S. Williams MD, Jeff Ustin MD, James Voos MD, Jacob Calcei MD, Kendra Gardiner, MBA, and Patrick Polito, MS, is published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation.
 
Lazurite’s ArthroFree system is the first wireless arthroscopy and general endoscopy camera to earn FDA 510(k) clearance. It removes the need for power and light cords to ease setup and takedown time, and is designed for more ergonomic and efficient surgical movements to shorten procedure time.
 
Projected savings per case in this study ranged from $10 to $117.
